Using Female Condoms for Bracelet . Appreciation of beauty differ from culture to culture. Different cultures sociologist have informed us have different paradigm that the inhabitants of that society use to beautify them selves. We have the tattoos; the different body piercing ; mouth plate and the gold tooth. While in some cultures people see beauty from being fat in others it is frowned at and instead appreciated and accepted from being skinny just to mention a few. However I have asked myself do people actually beautify themselves while at the same time putting their lives in jeopardy ? Some people may acknowledge the sincerity of this fact while others may not . Take this example of Zimbabwe a country located in the South African sub region. . Let me run you down memory lane about Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe is an interesting country to keep an eye on. If it is not the news of the ever lingering disagreement between the Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe and a section of the international community, it is the news of the devastating effect of HIV infection among the majority of the population. As of today AIDS infection in Zimbabwe is in an alarming rate.. A quarter of the adult population is infected and Up to a fifth of the country's children have lost at least one parent to the disease. According to a UN recent report, more than 2500 people a week die of this disease, and the figure is expected to rise rapidly in the coming decade. Also In many urban areas, infection runs to 40%. In the army, it is more like 80%. It is not surprising that the same UN report have put a bleak and scary report of the life expectancy in this country. It is estimated that Life expectancy at birth, is poised to fall to 38 years. On a recent visit to Zimbabwe, what I found within the country baffled me. I found a kind of bracelet that lots of young women were wearing and when I asked the origin of these bracelets, I was told that they were from female condoms. Female condoms? I found myself shouting. Yes my guide told me. It took me time to realize the impact of what is going on. How will a reasonable person use female condoms to make bracelet ? What kind of beauty appreciation is this , I ask myself ? It is very mind boggling that the condoms that are in most cases disturbed free to Zimbabwe females are being used for the wrong reason and also sold for profit purposes. This is absurd and beyond comprehension. It is very unbelievable that the Zimbabwe government seem not to be aware of this. Mugabe please act now before it is too late.
