I listen to talk radio with some regularity. Thus, on Monday Jan 31, I listened to Air America's Randi Rhodes (sp?) - she opined that Sunday's Iraqi election had no more significance than previous elections under Saddam. Butressing herself, she interviewed former weapons inspector and war opponent Scott Ritter.

It was a meaningless election, she claims, because the voter don't even know who they're voting for! The security situtation is so bad that even they must hide.

Problem for her hours of complaining: they have a pariliamentary system; they can't vote for individuals like we do - like in England, they had to vote for a SLATE of candidates - individuals are subordinate to the party. Furthermore, Iraq now has more newspapers than anywhere else on the planet, more radio debate and discussion than we do, and they had a 3-hour debate on TV with the six-largest parties represented - a first in their history

Randi is a bitter, cynical, anti-Bush to-the-end stooge. Oh, why are the "progressives" ao anti-progrogressive? Why are "Democrats" so anti-democratic?
