What a great day for America.

In the greatest country in the world, abundant with the blessings of God, an African-American woman begins her first day on the job as Secretary of State, fourth in line from the presidency!

Interesting how a man (Bush) and his party (GOP) constantly falsely harrangued as racist were able to accomplish such a feat!

Tough day indeed for "Sheets" Byrd? :D

    Democracy, freedom, and equality live!

Funny. I don't recall ever hearing any democratic organ or spokesperson claim that President Bush is a racist.

Short sighted, arrogant, in the pockets of the moneyed and powerful, dishonest, ultra right wing, dictatorial, violent, intolerant of dissent, ineffective, incompetent, and untrustworthy, all of THESE charges I have heard (and made).

    But not racist.

Indeed, I actually SUPPORT the President against his own anti-immigrant party members when it comes to immigration reform.

You have to be kidding. Are you that out of touch! One of the most vicious offenders is city council member Charles Barron (D) of NYC.

A number of leftist groups claiming to be democratic also make this charge.

WOW! You found a WHOLE City Councilman that said GWB is a racist? WOW!

Sure. And I think you wouldn't have to look too hard to find gen-u-ine racists in both major political parties.

    C'mon!

    Be for real

Bush has been routinely labelled racist by any number of people. It goes back to when he instituted the now very successful 10% program in Texas Universities. It happens so often it is hard to pick one out of the crowd. Do a google with Bush and racist and see for yourself...

While I question Bush's integrity, honesty, and ethical standards, I would never label him a racist. His cabinent represents pretty much a broad section of the United States - albeit all rich (not one is middle class, or even upper middle class).

As much as I think Condi is as much of a liar as Bush, I think all in all she will be a decent Sec State. One thing is for sure, she won't question Bush like Powell which is bad thing for America but a definite good thing for the Bush administration.

Be careful, those eyes might stay that way, ha!

I named one person since you said you had not heard a "spokesperson." You didn't use the plural.

There have been others. Congresswomen Maxine Waters and Shelia Jackson Lee are two others. Congressman Danny Davis is another as is Bobby Seals. Need I list more?

Corrine Brown(D, Florida), on the house floor, has on a few times called the president racist and his his representatives ''a bunch of white men.''

UNCLE!! (not Janko) I give up! You win!

I withdraw my statement about Democrats and the Party and say only, "I called the President 'short sighted, arrogant, in the pockets of the moneyed and powerful, dishonest, ultra right wing, dictatorial, violent, intolerant of dissent, ineffective, incompetent, and untrustworthy' but I never called him a racist!"

    Okay?

This is not about winning, it's about being accurate and factual.

Please tell me what's "ultra right wing" about wanting to free enslaved people, appointing more minorities than any other president in history, spending 15 billion to combat AIDS in Africa, stating that homosexuals are no more sinful than others, fighting for immigration reform, speaking highly about RFK, calling MLK, Jr., a great man, saying the country has a long way to go to fully meet King's dream, etc., etc., etc.?

So if I give up "ultra right wing", you'll concede "'short sighted, arrogant, in the pockets of the moneyed and powerful, dishonest, dictatorial, violent, intolerant of dissent, ineffective, incompetent, and untrustworthy'??

Oh you mean as compared to 2 1/2 months ago when he was in favor of a constitutional ban on same sex marriages? You remember, we need to "preserve the sanctity of marriage."

Oh, that's right, that was then (when there was an election to win and voters to pander to), and this is now, when he realizes that such a narrow-minded, mean spirited, and bigoted view is completely untenable. And what the hell - don't need the votes anymore. Nothing like disposable ideology.

What's the word I'm looking for? Oh yeah - gutless. That's it.

    Flip-flop?

Sorry, for some reason that "word" just popped into my head. :)
