I didn't read this anywhere in print before:

"The International Monetary Fund reported last November that even now the Iraqi economy is performing better than any other in the Arab Middle East, and could become the region's engine of growth over the next decade."

    Or did you?
I find it incredible, given the sums the US is spending there, that his has been neglected.
(Whatever else one thinks of the IMF, its research is regarded as first-rate.)

Well, from what I've heard, it sounds like a positively lovely place to do business! With the killings, mutiliations, bombings, burnings, and abductions, it sort of adds a little spice to the typical boring businessday. I'm sure that hundreds of new businesses will emerge shortly to get in on the ground floor of this exciting opportunity!

I think I saw a report like this once before in my long life. I believe it was in 1968? The IMF? Mekong Delta Project? Oh yeah - that was another going concern that they nailed so accurately on the head....
