As some may remember I stated The Rev. Al Sharpton wouldn't quietly accept Kerry's nomination and the DNC's refusal to implement some of Sharpton's ideas into the platform and subsequent campaign. I predicted he would create a fuss.

He didn't. He was a staunch, loyal supporter of both the platform and the Kerry-Edwards ticket. I never could understand this until now. Now we know why Sharpton was so supportive.

Jimmy, you make it sound like Sharpton's primary reason for supporting Kerry was monetary. You don't think he would have been equally supportive if the remuneration had been zero?

Are you familiar with Al Sharpton's history?

When has Al Sharpton actively campaigned for ANY candidate when there wasn't something in it for Al?

Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! We agree! ;)

  7. I agree with all the posts so far in this discussion, but that being said I LIKE the Rev. Al Sharpton. He is funny, eccentric, and extremely energizing just to have him around. Not saying I'd vote for him, but he is a lot more likeable, articulate, and intelligent than some of the stiffs that have posed as Democratic presidential candidates in recent elections.

Well, Carl, you and I agree on this. Sharpton is a very funny, funny man. I am never disappointed with the Democrats as every four years one of the candidates adds a touch of humor (Babbitt, Udall). The GOP every now and then has a funny guy (Hatch) running. But, the Dems get the nod for injecting humor into the presidential campaigns.

Another thing that can be said for Sharpton is that he doesn't shy away from the tough venues. He will go on any talk show and debate anyone to get his message out (as ridiculous as it is).

During the campaign he was like a regular on the O'Reilly factor, even though Bill rarely let him finish a sentence.
