On the streets and in the gathering places of Iran, millions celebrated the re-election of President Bush with congratulations and discreet V for victory signs to each other.

The Student Movement Coordination Committee for Democracy in Iran (SMCCDI) Web site reports that not just a few, but millions of Iranians hoping for reform in that country are excited about President Bush and his promises of democracy for the whole region.

However, SMCCDI reports, "As Iranians and especially the younger generations have become happy, those affiliated to the Islamic regime are seen deeply worried about their future."
It says the ruling regime in Iran, and all of its lobbyists and apologists, spent piles of money hoping for a Bush defeat.

They even organized a celebration in Tehran of the day the American hostages were taken in Iran in 1979, but could only manage a "few thousand professional protesters" from a city of 12 million inhabitants.

The site reports that "commemoration of one of the main Islamist act [sic] of terror ecountered another massive popular rejection."

Hmm... how to say this without being insulting....

    Aw, screw it.

Apparently, you either didn't bother to read the article nor the post to which you were responding, or you simply did not comprehend it.

The point is that the real terrorists and fascists Islamists are CELEBRATING Bush's victory. They want a battle to the death, just like Bush does. They would rejoice in seeing billions of "their enemy" dead, just as Bush would. The last thing the hard core terrorists want is someone who would actually put an end to the violence. And they know there is no possiblity of that, as long as Bush is in office.

Apparently, you didn't read the article as it says nothing near what you say the "point" is.

    Read it again

And you read this how? For someone insulting someones reading abilities your's are pretty bad. There have been many articles about the current young people in Iran being pro-USA and against their own government. The Atlantic Monthly just had another this month and quoted many of the hostage takers from 1979 as being against the regime and sorry they had taken the hostages. Be a little more informed on current affairs before you attack someone else.

    To grgrwll,

People like you just amaze me, if you were President of the United States how would you deal with hard core (Muslim) terrorists who have dedicated their miserable lives to killing innocent Americans?

Would you just open up the borders of this country and welcome them all in with a great big hug and a sloppy wet kiss?!

Maybe then those terrorists will have a nice warm fuzzy feeling toward us, and then maybe we will all get along and live in complete harmony!

    YA RIGHT! :p

I don't like or want innocent people killed either, but as long as these people support, train and harbor terrorists (Regimes), then Bush is doing the right thing as far as I'm concerned!

Hmm... how to say this without being insulting....ahhhh nevermind.

Apparently grgrwll, you either didn't bother to look up the web site AV8R named in the original post (Student Movement Coordination Committee for Democracy in Iran), or you didn't read the articles from their site, or you didn't comprehend the articles or the mission of the SMCCD in Iran. They are NOT a terrorist group, they are a group working for democracy in Iran and an END to the oppressive Islamist regime. They specifically denounce terrorism.

Here's a few links to articles from their site that clearly spell out their mission:

First the one AV8R was referring to, which you neither looked up nor read:

    http://www.daneshjoo.org/smccdinews/article/publish/article_4319.shtml

Here's one that'll shock you. Bouyed by the action in Afghanistan and Iraq, some Iranians feel there's hope for democracy in their own country, and apparently some have taken to referring to George W. Bush as the "Messiah of Freedom" Read it and weep:

    http://www.daneshjoo.org/smccdinews/article/publish/article_4320.shtml

Apparently they didn't think too much of Kerry. Read their "Open Letter to Senator Kerry":

    http://www.daneshjoo.org/article/publish/article_3130.shtml

Here's a transcript of their press conference held at the National Press Club. Contains references to Kerry:

    http://www.daneshjoo.org/article/publish/article_3241.shtml

The Student Movement Coordination Committee for Democracy in Iran also has female members and is calling for an end to gender apartheid in Iran and is supporting freedom demonstrations by Iranian women:
