The Desperation of John Kerry

It appears Senator Kerry is very desperate with eight days until election day.

He has called on President Clinton, still weak and not looking too well, to campaign for him. If people don't think Kerry will stoop to any measure to win, this certainly proves otherwise. Using a sick man to perpetuate a cause is shameful!

Showing just how desperate Kerry is, he asked Clinton to campaign in Philadelphia--to mostly blacks and Jews--where winning that city overwhelmingly should be a slam dunk!

Kerry now knows he's in trouble. Polls released today show Bush surging, and surging big. Three hour's ago Gallup released a poll showing Bush with 51% in Florida.

Illinois, a huge Democratic state, is now considered weak Kerry. The solidly Kerry states are now beginning to crumple.

I have to say, I have never, in more than 43 years of being heavily interested in politics, been more concerned about the outcome of an election. In my opinion Kerry is very dangerous. I have only felt this way in two other presidential campaigns, Goldwater in '64 and McGovern in '72.

Give it a rest Jimmy. All candidates are pulling out the stops. Chimp-boy even has his National Security Advisor out on the trial (cheaply disguised as National Security "advisories" - only problem is that they are aimed at seniors in Florida).

I have to say I am going to gloat when our present Commander in Chimp is escorted out of the Whitehouse in shame. It will show once and for all that Bush is only really fooling himself (and a few select members of this board - whose names I am not going to publish - you know who you are Jimmy!)

Regardless of your opinion of Mr. Bush, don't you think this type of name calling is beyond the pale?

I never called Mr. Clinton names and I didn't like him.

If you don't have respect for the President at least have some for the office of the presidency!

Bush by 54%! My wife and I voted today. Bush received two votes he didn't get in 2000. Wonder how more like us there are in the good ole' US of A?

    Jimmy,

I would say that Bush is going to win for sure if he's polling across the board in the battleground states over 50%. But, since the undecideds usually go to the challenger, I'd say that Bush is in more trouble than good.

I'd predict that most of the undecideds will go to Kerry when Bush's job approval rating is below 50%. If it were above that, I'd feel more comfortable with a Bush prediction.

Because he is higher in the polls than Kerry, he may just win electorally. And since Kerry still hasn't defined himself much, that is still very possible. Unfortunately, Kerry knows that he doesn't have to define himself. The more defined he is, the less attractive. I think he has done a good job running off of Bush hatred. But that's basically it.

All in all, we are in for another roller-coaster. Except this time the whole world is watching more closely.

I have respect for the office of the Presidency. I do not have respect for Chimp Bush.

Bush is a very dangerous idealouge. Cloaked in his false religious beliefs, he has steered us into a more dangerous world and needs to be shown the door before things get worse.

Again, for everyone who supports this Chimp. If you believe in what this man is saying, then you have a moral obligation to join up and fight. Anything less means you want someone else to die for your false ideals of this person.

The problem with Bush is that he is a liar. And with most habitual liars, even when confronted with the truth, continues to lie.

So Jimmy - when are you joining up? Notice the Chimps daughters are not joining his war. I guess they lack conviction (sort of like Bush in the late 60's)

Sorry Jim-bob - Dubya is going to get voted out like his loser father. Two pathetic little men with little ideas.

    Oh Jimmy - btw:

Applied Materials announced 8,000 layoffs. Most of these jobs pay between 75-200K a year. Oh - I guess your President will help out. He will tout that he added another 200K jobs to the rolls. What he doesn't tell you is that these are WalMart jobs that pay $7.50 an hour and don't have benefits.

To anyone who tells me the recession is over, you are obviously not in the tech sector. And the tech sector creates the highest paid jobs. (also requiring the most amount of education).

LOL, You know more people like bush than Kerry apparently?

I guess that means that you are calling the majority of america chimps. Really that is fine if you want to say such a bold broad statement, it just makes me not trust your judgement.

Us 100,000,000 Strong Evangelical Christians will be there to vote bush back in another term. They are rallying accross the country in numbers never before seen.

I am also one more vote that bush did not have in the last election. There is a Pro choice lady at my work who her and her mother are Democratic. I was very shocked to hear her say her and her mom were voting for bush! I said "why? I thought he did not stand for your ideals and politics?" She simply said "we thought about voting for Kerry, but we just don't like him or some of the changes he is proposing." She was saying she wished Clinton could run and be elected again instead of Kerry (Shudders).

I am amazed to have heard this from a Democrat and it just instills the idea in my head that Bush is going to be re-elected.

In the end, I like you guys and it really does not matter. We should not get mad over these two men as it is illogical. we should just be decent people and treat each other well.....

oh well, I guess I have to wait for that day Jesus Christ comes back to clean up everything up for that....

You are making things up Firstmode. I guess ITT doesn't teach basic english reading and writing skills.

I have heard that people would rather have a beer with GW instead of Kerry. Unfortunately, no one on this board knows either man personally so whether or not your like someone is based solely on how their handlers show them. It is generally said that Bush is a bit of a megalomaniac (like Larry Ellison of Oracle) - he is a control freak. Kerry is generally a bit stiff.

Talk about desperation measures - and using federal money to bolter your campaign:

    http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=564&ncid=564&e=15&u=/nm/20041026/ts_nm/campaign_grants_dc_3

Typical Bush non-job growth tactics. When will the Chimp learn the #1 lesson about grant money? They add false economy. Only private industry with private money creates jobs. All the fed does is redistribute the wealth. In the end, whether you give the money to Lockheed to build a cruise missle, or give it to a welfare mom, it really has the exact same effect on the economy.

I heard on the radio this morning about a poll that said if Clinton was running he would get 60% of the popular vote.

Let us clear away the bloviations...

    Mr Engineer:

    1) Bush is a "very dangerous idealogue?" What's the evidence for your assertion?
Certainly not the absence of any veto - the first such president not to exercise this power since J Q Adams! How about social spending? A large new entitlement, federal spending on cities, education are all much higher than under Clinton. I argue that Bush is much too little a "conservative" - too much of a Big Government hack than a little government Reaganite. Thus, I accordingly voted against him for the Libertarian instead.
You his false religious beliefs? Since when do we have religious (or irreligious) test for office in this country!?!? In fact, one recent author on this very subject counted the number of times this prez mentioned "God" in major addresses: 17 for Bush in 3 and 1/2 years, versus Clinton, 42 (?) over 8.
Hardly out of line here - so where's your evidence?

    [cont'd below]

    2) You write: " If you believe in what this man is saying, then you have a moral obligation to join up and fight."
If what I read about the dead and injured in Iraq, this is already the case: those serving and dying are not from liberal New York or leftist Seattle or even San Francisco. They come from Kansas or Bakersfield, Cal., in short states and counties that voted for Bush in 2000 - and likely to stay that way. So, do tell me, where does this unfocused rancor of yours come from?

    3) "The problem with Bush is that he is a liar."
Having just conferenced with a PhD candidate from the University of New Mexico (in US history), and a med-school applicant, who both echoed the same "Bush lied!" screed - I wondered what their evidence was? No answer; just a feeling perpetrated by the ver "reliable" MSM and Mich

How about you - mr. engineer? Can you do better?

    2) "If you believe in what this man is saying, then you have a moral obligation to join up and fight. "

I have read the bios of those who've lost their lives fighting for us. And I don't recall New Yorkers or Lefty Seattle-ites or even San Franciscans doing the dirty work. I do, however, recall lots of men (and a few women from Buish states like Kansas and Texas and Bush counties like Yuma, New Mexico and Bakersfield, California.

So, tell us, what's the real source of your rage?

    3) "The problem with Bush is that he is a liar."
    OK - where? About What?
On the one hand, it's true that Bush spoke about democratising the Middle East in 2002 speeches, after his crucial pre-emption speech at West Point in June. It's true that the media - even those who attended the latter event - didn't notice and didn't report the facts (to the consternation of Bush)!
    [Source on request]
On the other hand, it's also true that I meet bright young people - a med school app and a PhD candidate from Univ of New Mexico in US history- who feel that "Bush lied!" - but can't back it up with any details.

    Can you? Mr. Engineer?

Re: The Desperation of John Kerry is TRUE!

It's true - the DNC Hawaii!
And Kerry is mostly campaigning in so-called Blue states like Michigan, Wisconsin, and Iowa - places that went to Gore last time. By contrast, Bush is mostly in states he lost in 2000.

Even the latest phony story on weapons "lost" from Al Qaa Qa are being used - another sure-fire sign of desperation. Those internal polls must look worse than we know!

Kerry already had California even before the start of the election season. GW had less chance than this dad of taking the state.

The Republicans need another Reagan, and Bush will never come close to Reagan either in charisma or integrity.

I'm in the tech sector and I don't see a recession any more. All of my "tech" friends have jobs (in the tech sector). As a matter of fact, I just got a new job.

*****Don't anyone take this personally, but...

I'm so sick of hearing "Bush lied.". <-That's a weak argument. If Bush lied so did Kerry, Clinton, and all of Congress and many of the nations in the UN (they all believed Iraq had WMD). I want to believe that we're all intelligent enough to make the distinction between a lie and a mistake but...I don't see evidence supporting that.

No one knows where Kerry stands from day-to-day (it depends on which direction the polls are going). I don't really understand why anyone would want a leader like him but...this is going to be a tough race. Just like the previous posters have stated, GWB will have 2 more votes (from my household) that he didn't get in 2000.
