There is still IRA terrorist killers wanted by the UK who live unchallenged in the USA.

They are given sanctuary by the US Government because their crimes are considered political.

Should they be sent back to the UK to face trial or is the war on terror just an excuse for Bush to control America?

    Silence?

Guess your Government never told you about that.

  3. No, not silence.

Just no time to respond! LOL

To be honest, I'm not at all surprised that our government (like any other government, including those of our enemies) have double-standards when it comes to "who is" and "who is not" a "terrorist". We've traditionally been very favorable towards Irish-Republican Army type terrorism, given our large Irish population, while at the same time showering with invectives those who are from Muslim and communist countries - even though the net result (violence and killing over one form of religion or another - if one can accept "communism" as a form of "religious belief) is the same.

As I've said ad nauseum, time for the world to get beyond these ideologies driven by ancient texts, especially when those beliefs drive us towards killing each other.

John Kerry is the best bet we have right now for a safer, saner world. George W. Bush, God help us if he is re-elected, will usher in a new dark age the likes of which we haven't seen since the 6th century if allowed to proceed unchecked.

That's what's at stake folks. Like it or not, and I know that all of you conservatives know this in your heart, but cannot find the courage to abandon your failed president.

Thanks for a sensible response to my question Carl.

Quite a relief from the usual misguided trash one usually encounters on this board.:)

I don't think anyone, maybe even in the Administration, can really KNOW at this point how the War on Terrorists is going, (as opposed to the Iraq occupation, which is a disaster.)

There apparently haven't been any serious attacks inside the U.S. since 9/11 but whether that is because the frantic efforts of the administration have been sucessful or because Al Quaida shot its bolt then and has nothing in the wings is impossible for me to say.

In this case, too, I don't really WANT the administration to "keep me informed"; this sort of war is fought in the shadows and secrecy is essential.

I agree with Nosborne. Who knows?

The only real barometer I'd say would be news that Islam is reforming towards the middle, or more in favor of modernity. That's not something in the news lately, I'd say. So perhaps "not well." But not necessarily "bleak."

Is the war on terror working?

Has the U.S. been attacked since 9/11.

    Dumb question, easy answer!

Oh dear! Isn't that a bit of a logical leap? Oh dear!

Is it? Why do you think the terrorists attacked in the first place? They saw Bush as an inexperienced man and a possible weakling much the same way the USSR viewed Kennedy during the Missle Crisis.

Why do you think they didn't try delivering missles to Cuba under the Eisenhower-Nixon Administration? They knew Eisenhower would take decisive action but didn't think the "weak," "inexperienced" Kennedy would.

This is why so many believe the terrorists will attack under a Kerry Administration given his record and behaviors over the years.

Um. I was merely questioning your syllogism.

The rest of your post looks like mere speculation which, as I said earlier, is all we've got right now.
