Who will control the US Senate in January?

    Some people think the democrats could regain control of the US Senate. I am surprised there is not more dicussion of this possibility in the print/broaqdcast media (and in this forum).

    I think the Republicans will hold on to control of both houses of Congress.

    They should have 51-52 Senate seats in the new Congress.

    There is a slight possiblity Rhode Island's Lincoln Chafee will defect to the Dems or follow Vermont's Jim Jeffords and declare as an independent siding with the Dems.

    I'm sure if he tried he could follow his father John's pattern of being a moderate Republican and staying in the party.
