As a part of my duties.I am also tasked to screen and review news and media reports presented to the CG. In a nutshell,the media has portrayed actions in Najaf incorrectly !. The media is saying :.."Oh, this a kind of, sort of, victory for Al Sadr..America is not in a good position now with Sistani 'saving the day'....., We are not really winning anything....blah..blah..blah" I want to say. We ARE winning. Granted it is a SLOW process, but we ARE "winning". Yes, we have lost lives. Even 1 is too many.But what the news does NOT portray is that we have killed probably about 2000 of those Islamic bastards. They are just that...Islamic Iraqi bastards!! 0f course the media doesn't choose to convey that. What the media also fails to say is that these "militants", (run by Al Sadr,) have killed/executed/tortured about 200-300 Iraqis as thier way of "purifying" their culture. ... To me, that is pretty newsworthy. But then again it was not mentioned. Not surprisizingly, they use our laws of land warfare against us in that they made their "Holiest Shrines" their safe haven and base of operations. When we entered the city they IMMEDIATELY retreat for their shrines as sanctuary. Later they attack us from that base of operations. Oh yeah,those Iraqis that they tortured and killed, well guess where they did that? You guessed it,in the shrines.But of course, this is really OUR/America's fault, according to Al Jahzeera or world liberal reporters . So,when anybody tells you we are "losing",they are wrong! It is simply reporting BS. Check the party affiliation of the publication. When John Kerry says "I would have done everything "different" (Political doublespeak) than G.W." ask him: 1)What WOULD you have done? He hasn't mentioned ONCE what he would have done.Or for that matter,COULD have done. 2) If he would have done things differently, why did he support and sign every resolution for the war before it started (??) 3) Why are you trying to be a Monday morning quarterback?- I guess all it takes is selective memory Know that over here it is very different than what you see from the media.We are doing GREAT things..rebuilding,restoring power,water,providing new sanitation ,building schools,hospitals libraries, training Iraqi forces. Just for the record,a LARGE amount of the bad guys killed in Najaf,weren't killed by Marines. They were killed by Iraqi military and policemen. That speaks to the effective transfer of power to the locals. Additionally ,jobs are being created for Iraqis, in construction, contracting, etc... I see it every day. Don't swallow the liberal slant of the media.I see the media and I see what is going on out here . The two differ.
