Those of us who have done both online and classroom teaching know that online pays worse, sometimes significantly so, but this is ridiculous. The unaccredited (unless you count ACI "accreditation") Jacksonville Theological Seminary doesn't advertise their pay schedules for their teachers ("facilitators"), but it must be pretty good, because faculty have to pay a $1000 fee to be hired, then pay $50 per year just to stay active on the facilitator list; http://jts.edu/web/pdffiles/facpacket.pdf
So is this just an underhanded way to call yourself "Professor?" No real teaching but you get listed as a faculty member. Not a degree mill but a "position mill?"A fake job?
Hmmm...affordable tuition ($235 per class) = low pay for professors. Probably have to grade about 2394823 papers before it becomes cost-effective (which, I assume, is probably the monthly requirement, actually). Financial - Jacksonville Theological Seminary
It does -- it's in the pdf you linked to, Bruce. It's all commission. the "facilitator" sends in ALL the moneys received and is supposed to get back 50% of tuition and proportions of other moneys. It's all there -- just sayin'. J.
Matter of fact, here's the entire "faculty compensation" part of the package: "JTS/RMBC/RMCI recognizes and considers each Facilitator as a ministry partner in sharing the GOOD NEWS, the Gospel of Jesus Christ. JTS/RMBC/RMCI offers the following compensation benefits for providing academic services and discipling students: The Facilitator will submit ALL moneys collected from each student who has paid for any or all of the following: Student's Registration and Evaluation; Moneys collected for Course(s) Tuition and Material; and Moneys collected for a student's Graduation. All moneys are due to JTS/RMBC/RMCI by the 10th day of the following month, as per guidelines established with "Monthly Report", Section II. 3. The student should make checks or money orders to the appropriate school. Do not mix funds that accompany monthly report. JTS/RMBC/RMCI will then send the Facilitator back the compensation that is due them. Registration: 50% Tuition : 50% Text Book Material: 100% Audio Material: 0 % Graduation: 0%" I guess that $1,000 is kind of a security deposit. J.
