Smile Help me with a road map to part-time adjunct

Long time lurker here... I need some help coming up with a basic road map to doing part-time online instruction.

Basic info: RA PhD earned online with 18+ graduate credits in 3 different liberal arts subjects. Zero teaching experience. Already employed in a non-education field but would like to start building an online teaching background as extra money/challenge in retirement. I only want to teach a couple classes a year so I can give a fair amount of time to the students.

Basic problem: How do I get from zero teaching experience to teaching a couple classes a year? What's a good road map here?

Appreciate your help and advice. This forum is awesome!

Get creative and highlight any training/teaching experience you might have. In my corporate job I trained Dr and nurses on software as part of the installation and repair of medical networks. I was sure to focus on that when I wrote my CV and sent it out.

Apply to as many schools as possible. Send your CV out to 15-20 schools and see what happens. Start with the larger online schools with a higher turn over.

Another way to get teaching experience that was recommended to me was to look into teaching non-credit community education or professional development courses at your local community college. These are courses can be anything (how to play guitar, GRE exam prep, writing your resume, really what ever you can think of.) Sometimes they can lead to for credit adjunct teaching gigs (online and otherwise). Having an RA PhD will certainly help you in that area.
