Pretty close to hanging it up...

Hi all and calling all online adjuncts-

Has anyone else about had it with teaching online? I teach at APUS at the graduate level and am consistently astounded at how poor the students are. I've mentioned this to the school and - well it was a bit like talking to tech support. That is, a "known issue." All the school seems to care about is that I log in every 48 hours and respond to student queries.

    Anyone else feeling this frustration?

That's to be expected at any school without an entrance or placement exam. Does APUS offer remedial courses? I'm assuming they don't if they don't even have placement exams. I guess the plan is for the poor students to be weeded out by failing grades.

Honestly, I'm the the reverse boat trying to get into online teaching . Tried to post a topic on here a few times to elicit response, but looks like it's stuck in moderating.

I will say that students in general are terrible, online or not, graduate or undergrad. I have first-hand experience at several brick & mortar schools (on both sides of the desk) regarding the sort of things you are alluding to, and it's beyond disgusting. What's worse is that most of the time, the highly paid faculty and administrators actively support it in the way their classes are structured.
