I'm currently working on my master's in ed via distance and plan on pursuing a doctorate. I work at a university abroad teaching ESL. I'm happy here but I'd like to have some options in the US if I ever moved home. My options: 1. Get an EdD/PhD Ed - I do have a lot of experience teaching but that would limit me to education 2. Get a PhD in communication, English or writing (subjects I currently teach in an ESL environment.) - This would qualify me to teach education and a related subject, but I'm worried about seeming underqualified since I'd be coming from overseas and lacking focus. Also, I don't know if these subjects are any more marketable than ed. Opinions? Any distance program suggestions for a teacher on a budget? Thank you!
