Did you get your socks?

Yesterday in the mail I received a package from the University of Phoenix. It contained a pair of red socks with a white UoP logo on it. Anyone else get these?

The letter suggested that I wear them with pride, but red isn't exactly my color.

Before you make up your mind about the red socks, be sure to check out the TV commercial, which demonstrates their value and importance.

UoP is reportedly distributing 63,000 pairs of red socks to "alumni leaders".

    Nope.

However, I have zero affiliation with UoP.

Here's the bad news -- if you didn't get a pair directly from UoP, then you may have to wait.
UoP has released the following statement about the red socks:

You can get on the waitlist for $5.99/pair.

Nope. I have been affiliated with UOP for 8 years. No socks. LOL

I got my AA from UoP in 2001 or so and no socks here.

Inevitably, there has been some backlash against the University of Phoenix socks, as shown by small-minded individuals here and here. However, the power of the socks is clear nonetheless. It seems difficult to believe that the OP is the only degreeinfo contributor who has been honored in this way.

I'm guessing that the socks are a take-off of the old shool tie, as a form of alumni recognition.

Nobody objects to accredited institutions distributing red socks. The disturbing part is that if you go online, you can easily find dozens of websites where you can get red socks immediately -- in any size you want -- in return for a cash payment, no matter what your true academic qualifications might be.

Let's try to keep this important thread on-topic -- i.e. sox, not sex

In that case, you just need to watch this video of University of Phoenix students, led by an unusually large humanoid rabbit, performing the "Harlem Shake", while wearing red socks.

That should clear up any confusion that you might have.

I did as you asked. I watched. I'm less confused in the initial way that I was confused, and now I'm confused in an entirely different way. I promise you, I've given this some thought (well, not too much, let's just be real) and the only thing I can figure is that it's a gag gift from the school. Were they out of coffee mugs? Maybe it's a secret society thing (I DID just watch Zietgeist). :dunno:

UoP should get a football team together.

    Maybe a virtual football team?
