This is something I've been concerned about, actually.

I've been in the workforce (Computer Science) for more than fifteen years now. I'm qualified to teach all sorts of stuff -- but I don't have any graduate credits in them. Half of it didn't exist when I got my Masters; the other half is "severely outdated".

I am qualified to teach, for instance, C++ (15 years industry experience; it existed then, but there were no Graduate level courses about it) and Java (2+ years industry experience; it didn't exist then IIRC). No one had courses in Web Development then (which seems to be all the Community Colleges are looking for). Even the stuff that did exist then (i.e. Computer Graphics, computer networking, operating systems) has changed significantly since then.

Is "graduate credits in what you want to teach" a hard-and-fast requirement? Would I need to go back to graduate school to even think about teaching Computer Science now?

    Thanks!

You have a masters in compute science so you can teach any computer science subject even if you did not take any course in a particular subject that you teach. Half of the courses I teach I have never taken myself, IT is an evolving subject so it is quite normal to teach courses that you haven't taken.
How many teachers that teach Social media have courses in their transcript in this area?

RFValve is entirely correct. From your signature and description, it looks like you could teach any IT course (especially Community College courses) and any Psych class, though if most of your recent experience is in IT, then that is probably a better bet for you.

If I understand you right, it's only if I wanted to teach (say) Mathematics that I'd need the graduate credits since that's something I don't have a degree in.

    Thanks!
