How to obtain a teaching position at a college either online or full time faculty

    Hi Folks,
I want to start a career as a college faculty part time position. I have obtained my Masters of Science and BBA and I have been teaching soft skills for the past 4-5 years.

I was thinking of either pursuing my ph.D or a celta certificate.

However, due to financial constraints i have put that on hold, which colleges would hire masters qualified individuals. Please provide some guidance.

    thanks,

Well, it helps to know what subject area you have 18 grad semester hours in. What is your MS?

most Community Colleges hire Master's level graduates. Some Universities will hire you as an adjunct. You can peruse some of the hiring job boards and get an idea. higheredjobs.com is a good one.

I would say, get the certification... It's sounds like now in days a lot of people have their Masters, but to get a graduate certificate increases your chances to for a job like that (this is my opinion).
PhD Leadership - University of the Cumberlands ('19)
MA Leadership & Organizational Studies - Azusa Pacific University ('17)
MS Psychology - Southern New Hampshire University ('16)
BS Psychology - Liberty University ('13)

If that's your goal, do 18 graduate semester-hours in Finance, Accounting , or Statistics.

Try talking to some schools and listen to what they say.

    thanks,
The MS is more than enough to start. It took me about 2 years before getting my first online gig, this was after sending many resumes.

I would start with your local school for face to face teaching assignments, online gigs tend to be more difficult to get given that competition can be world wide.

You need to persist and build your resume with as much experience you can get.

Degrees help but is not everything.

I got most of my teaching work with an MS. A PhD is a "good to have" not a "must have". My advice if you want a PhD for teaching - get some classes with your MS (it can be done) and use the income to finance your PhD. I would never suggest you take out loans for it. What if you borrow to get a PhD and find that you hate teaching ?
