I was just given an unexpected teaching assignment for a school I was not expecting. This pushes me to my limit of time available. I tried to figure out what to do so I examined my option. I could drop one of the classes, but that would reduce my income. They can also reduce future offerings of classes.

I decided to examine what took the most time in the teaching. Really examine what slowed me down the most. I realized that my responses in the discussion forum, and feedback for homework assigned was the slowest part because I don't really type very fast.

I decided to purchase Dragon software to see if it would help. To be honest, it works great. I'm able to do more faster because I say the words rather than type them. It is incredibly accurate! Anyone teaching online that wants to speed up the process without cutting down quality I would highly recommend this program. I found that they only give more detailed responses in less time to all the students.

I used to this post it took me under a minute.

What is the difference between Dragon Naturally Speaking software and speech recognition software that comes with Windows 7? I use the windows 7 version and am somewhat please with it. If Dragon is better then I will give it a try. I read the reviews at Amazon but I take them with a grain of salt. I have much more confidence in the group here.

I remember trying to use Dragon years ago, probably 8-10 years back, and it was pretty terrible! But I haven't used it lately and I'm sure it's improved leaps & bounds since then. If Siri does a half decent job on an iPhone (and she/it does!) I imagine Dragon must work pretty well these days.

I never used the W7 version. Since Dragon was on sale for $69 I thought I would take the gamble.

Speech recognition comes free with windows 7. I have been using it for quite awhile and have seen the improvement since when it first came out years ago.
