The list shows the universities that DeVry Faculty have attended. For example 3 current DeVry faculty have degrees from Harvard.

Perhaps an attempt to demonstrate that DeVry has some faculty from decent schools?

Actually, I was hoping for someone to notice that two of the faculty had DETC (Cal Coast and Aspen) degrees.

This is not a slam at all against DeVry , but I tend to get a little more skeptical about a school when there is such a large number of their own graduates teaching there.

Also, what does DETC have to do with anything? Just because someone claims a DETC credential does not mean that it was in any way a factor in getting hired. The degree could have been obtained from a DETC school after the date of hire for a potential pay raise? It would be foolish for anyone to look at such a list and conclude that DETC credentials are going to open the same doors.

With that many faculty, chances are there are even some with unaccredited degrees.

If the list represents the total list of 2752 faculty members, and 144 are DeVry graduates, that is only 5.23% of DeVry graduates teaching there, which is actually very low. Point taken about the DETC credentials, except the Aspen faculty member only had a Masters.

I would expect to see lots of UOP people everywhere. :)

They graduate a large number of doctorates each year, maybe not a large percentage, but a large absolute number.

5% actually seems like a big number to me. My observations are anecdotal, but I have worked a few places as a faculty member and most of them specifically exclude their graduates for hiring purposes.

Were they DL schools? It seems like many online schools are especially sensitive about hiring their own graduates.

I remember one formerly unaccredited school in Louisiana (if someone says the name, I'll know it) that eventually attained DETC accreditation, where the faculty listing looked like the alumni newsletter, since practically every faculty member had their highest degree from that school.

Are there any guidelines from the legitimate accrediting agencies as far as having "home grown" faculty?
