    Greetings everyone and Happy Thanksgiving...

I am hoping that this is the right place to be however unsure. The moderator can feel free to move it if necessary. I have my MBA and working on my second at this time. I still have not been able to find teaching positions. Perhaps I am not looking for the right thing but at any rate, what I am doing at this time is starting to get back into the type of applications that are being used to build virtual classrooms and stay up to date with the various changes.

I would like to know from those who are currently teaching, could you tell me have you noticed if one particular application is being used to develop the virtual classrooms more than another? The reason I ask is I would like to put my technical education to use and how I intend to do it is by focusing on the virtual classroom capability because I have a very high knowledge in computers as well as the Internet. Any information that I can gather on this will be greatly appreciated.

    Kind regards,
    Sue

I have never seen much in the way of "you must know Moodle" or something like that. I have worked with eCollege, Moodle, and Angel and they are not hard to figure out. I think the employers want to see that you know the course content as opposed to the platform being used. I see you have an MBA in Finance, how many finance credits do you have? Do you have experience in the industry? Do you highlight teaching experience on your CV?

The MBA is basic Finance. For the past few years I have been entering into teaching on my own and learning it on my own because I did an undergraduate in MIS with a minor in Networking so I already had that interest. I'm just taking advantage of what I already had and moving forward. I have been teaching on my own via the Internet and doing it through HTML classes to small business owners so I can get practice on teaching. I have not been able to get a job in anywhere for entry level teaching which has been very frustrating so I can try out my ideas.

A lot of it I'm sure is the fact of the economy -- not surprising. At any rate, I am considering the idea of pushing the idea further than I already have it on my CV. Yes, I have teaching listed on my resume but it is not the focus. I have to wonder how much to push so I can get my feet wet in this arena. The person who was supposed to help me with finding a job has not done her job so I am doing this on my own.
