I started applying to teach online for various schools (about 30 applications so far) about six months ago. I figured it wouldn’t take long. I have eight years teaching at a brick-and-mortar state regional university, as well as having taught a class on-line several years ago and having taught at a community college. I have an EdD from Texas A&M, as well as three masters degrees, one from a state school and two online (MBA & MS-Accounting). Still, nothing so far. I could have gotten hired on to teach on campus quicker than this. How long did it take you to get hooked up with a school, part time, online? It appears that many programs run perpetual ads, not having a position at the time, but keeping a list of those interested in teaching “just-in-case” they have an opening. Is this a correct perception? Thanks for any input anyone cares to offer.
