I am writing this on behalf of a friend and I will be careful writing it because he was banned after creating a new profile a few days ago and posting it. I assume it was seen as spammy and too promotional,

Nonetheless the title of this forum is "A place to discuss all aspects of online and DL instructional positions, including job opportunities, networking, and the unique problems associated with online teaching."

So I will give it another try in a less job like format for the posting.

    - - - -

A friend of mine is opening a new school. The name is not legally binding yet and the website does not exist so I can't provide the name. (although it will be launching in a few months).

It will not be accredited to start with (as any new school).
It will be state licensed and operate legally.
After 2 years it will apply for accreditation (the earliest the standard agency regulations permit a new institution doing so)
During the first 2 years the number of students will be extremely small. Just sufficient to satisfy regulations and future accreditation requirements. (these will likely be enrolled at no cost to the student / operating expenses)

They are looking to mainly hire non teaching positions - board management level (including Dean/President & CAO). They also are looking to hire an advisory board. None of these positions require any teaching. (there may be 1 or 2 jobs for instructional positions too although a lot of these are in place.)

During the first 2 years there will be no salary. Stock options/ownership will be offered instead. Upon accreditation and increase in student enrolment adequate salaries will be provided.

An unsual posting I know - but may be of interest to some of you here given the title of the forum regarding job opportunities etc..

Preferential treatment given to residents of Hawaii.. However all candidates will be considered. Must have PHD for senior management, Masters may be considered if significant teaching exp. for advisory roles.

    Please PM if interested.

    Thanks
    Andy

I am not sure it can be considered a job opportunity if there is no pay for the first two years.

Thanks Kizmet. Yes I agree, in hindisght it was an advertisement. There was nothing intentionally untoward however, I think just naivety on his part.

There are various reasons why an employer would not state their personal or institute name. As everything these days is recorded, and indexed in the search engines etc.. And the fact that you can't control what others will write or post in response etc.. I think these are valid reasons.

I think there are many people here who would be qualified and suitable candidates

Truckie, it can still be a job without pay. (for example what do you consider volunteer positions?).
This will be paid, it will just be in a different way - i.e. through stock / ownership. And as no teaching is required for most of the positions it seems like a good gig to me. I would do it myself but I don't have relevant exp or a PHD.

Andy - We ban so many newbie spammers every day that no one keeps count or thinks twice about it. It's generally a "shoot first, ask questions later" mentality. Having heard from you I would guess that we would be willing to entertain a request from your friend to be "un-banned." (or is that de-banned?) If he's interested, tell him to email the site and reference this thread.
