Hello, I have a list of about 700 schools that offer online courses in business. I am contacting the business dept. Deans and leaving a message asking about positions. I then email cover letter, resume and unofficial grad school transcripts. I started this process in Nov. and am about 1/2 way through list (325 schools). I got (1) offer but class was cancelled and Dean never called me back to discuss other course options. I suspect he was in a last minute bind and threw the offer out but did not need me. Is this common? I have about (3) other schools who are showing interest. Have many of you contacted 300+ schools to get your first position? I never envisioned this process being so difficult. Many of the hiring Deans are telling me they are flooded with resumes. I have some online and classroom teaching experience. I have been teaching for free for the past 12 months to get experience. Thanks for any input !
I've probably sent in over 100 resumes. I don't know the total number of schools, many of the resumes where sent to the same school. I have eight online positions, but I started at Kaplan on ground. I only apply to schools that are hiring so I'm sure that makes a difference. I never apply to hiring pools. I've done that twice early on, spent time and money sending official transcripts and I've never heard from them again.
