I am enrolled at baker college online, going for an assoc. in computer programming then moving on to a cis or cs degree. I live in Michigan and don't plan on leaving the state, I am wondering if i am going to the right place. Will this degree be respected by employers? anyone gone there? and possible recommendations of schools of around equal cost, thanks

Just check and make sure the University is properly accredited and you should be fine. As far as respected.. i am unsure about this. I am looking @ going to different schools when I start my PHD and I wonder if name really matters... My wife who works in HR says she rarely looks @ the name of the school just the level of the degree. I have a Bsc. from UOP and I am getting quite a bit of interest so i think it is partially experience besides the diploma. I personally do not feel where you got your degree matters as much as the experience you have! That is my two cents anyway! Have a great week!

I believe that in IT is more important your experience and skills rather than the name of the school you graduated from. Most employers can care less about this as experience and skills seem to matter more. School names would matter more if you are looking for executive or managerial careers but not so much for technical fields.

I know I am a little late to the punch on this one, but Baker College is a respectable school in terms of acknowledgment in the workforce and academic world. I teach online higher ed courses and received my MBA from Baker College Online. It's regionally accredited. The only downfall is (and this is just my opinion having been through their program and now teaching in it), their online courses are pretty labor intensive when compared to many public institutions or even on-ground, face-to-face classes.

yeah, I definitely agree with you.. though some of the employer do give importance on what school you graduated but once they give you a chance, just do your best in what will you do and everything will follow.
