I have been reviewing my Graduate Transcripts and have a question about the 18 credits needed to teach management courses on the college level.

I have an MBA and have 15 credits in management courses on my transcript:
Operations Mgt, Management Organization, Strategic Mgt: Environmental Issues; Exploration Entrepreneurial Mgt, and Strategic Mgt: Decision Making.

I have 3 courses (12 credits) that are on my transcript for my doctoral program that may or may not be considered management related:
Leadership, Governance & Mgt., and Human Resource Development.

I would like to ask the group if you think that I have sufficient courses to meet the 18 credits needed to teach Management courses on the college level? I am thinking that I might need to take one more 3 credit graduate level management course at a nearby college to bring the credits to 18. I just need to get the group's input on this before I do this. I don't exactly have a ton of spare time so I don't want to invest time and money if I don't need to. Thanks for your thoughts in advance. ~Kim~

    My answer: Yes

Kim, yes I think that you already have enough management credits. But I don't hire folks and am not familiar with all accreditors' standards.

Maybe Dr. Pina or others who hire will weigh in on your question.

Another way to check would just be to apply for some online posted positions (such as those on higheredjobs.com) and see what the results are. Or call a college and talk to a dean, or better yet call the UNH dean. Do you keep in contact with any of your MBA profs?

Yep, agreed. It looks fine for teaching general management operations.

I think that your unit concentrations would be fine for a management teaching position. Our accrediting body (SACS) requires at least 18 graduate hours related to the area to be taught. We also look for practical (field-based) career and online teaching experience. A record of scholarly credentials helps as well.
