For those who are unaware . . .
Northeastern University is a good quality school located in the heart of Boston. It's a rather big school (I know, it's all relative) that operates on the trimester system. It is known for its extensive work-study system where the standard Bachelors degree takes five years. It takes longer because students all have to engage in a work-study program that is relevant to their major. Students graduate having already developed connections and experience in the work world. It can be a big plus. My point is this: a Northeastern graduate would have more than just a transcript to rely upon in such a case. Not only would someone be able to name professors (who could atest to the fact that the student was, at least, in their class) but they should also be able to identify at least one school-sponsored work-study site where supervisors could atest to the individuals student status as well as job skills.

Northeastern is actually switching to the semester system very shortly, maybe even this year, IIRC.

So Bruce, just out of curiosity, how will this effect the work-study program?

I don't think there will be much change, other than it won't start for students until after their Freshman year is complete. Northeastern has a pretty good FAQ page on their website.
