The "Bat Signal" flashes into the night sky. The Joker is back. Spiderman is called to action as the Green Goblin has reappeared. Daredevil answers the call because Mr. Big has shown his face. Steve Levicoff, not-so-mild-mannered pundit for a once great newsgroup (aed) responds to the alert. His arch-enemy (actually, more of a nebish) has begun posting on aed again. Only one man can so easily defeat the perpetually annoying . . . Jimmy Clifton (please add whatever letters you'd like after his name, as he's already done it). We can only hope that Levicoff can again rise to the challenge . . . defeat Clifton and his unaccredited degrees by making him honestly answer questions about his academic lineage (or lack thereof) Jack

I have been quite amused by the back-and-forth between Clifton and Levicoff in the past and am simply hoping for a rematch (although it really seems to be quite a mismatch). If you're truly interested you can easily review these debates by going through the google archives of aed threads. It's sometimes more fun rereading the old threads because now you don't have the lag-time between posts. Jack

I never wanted to beat this to death but I can't resist this final posting. Apparently, Jimmy was complaining on aed of how he's a changed man now and I won't let bygones be bygones. It seems that he posted a few messages to this effect on aed and instead of garnering support, he was told by at least one person that he should deal with his problems from other forums away from aed. So, then he basically said that he's leaving aed "for the good of the forum" (or words to that effect) so that his problems don't distract the aed community. The funny thing is that I didn't post any criticisms of Jimmy on aed. He was the one who was going on and on about what I said on degreeinfo. All he had to do was stop posting on the subject and it would have faded away. Anyway, he's placed himself in exile from aed and here's the great part . . . he started his own forum . . . and here's the really great part . . . there's a whole section devoted exclusively to ME (there's also sections for Uncle Janko, Kirkland, Bill Huffman and Bill Dayson). Gee whiz, I hope this isn't my 15 minutes of fame. So Jimmy (I know you're reading this) I just want to tell you that it was never my intention to chase you around on aed and as far as I'm concerned you can go back and post to your heart's content. I do believe in redemption but you may have a few questions to answer before you're considered to be redeemed. Anybody who thinks, as does our fave luminary, that Earlham School of Religion is on the same intellectual level as Bethany of Dothan has Quaker oats for brains. Our man needs a Friendly reality check.
His website is pretty amusing, since it seems to consist entirely of him arguing with himself. Just to clarify matters, Jimmy is not banned from this website. If he abides by the TOS, he is more than welcome to post here.
Well, it looks like the new forum is already gone. A personal forum is not much different from a "blog," so I don't see that Jimmy was doing something all that unusual.
