Steps Planned to Prevent Fake Degrees

 

"In a clampdown on what appears to be a growing number of fake doctoral degrees from abroad, the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development said yesterday that a new system of verifying degrees from foreign universities would be enforced from next year. Doctoral degrees from abroad are regarded as stepping-stones to better jobs and higher remuneration. Fraud involving phony doctoral degrees became a serious social issue earlier this year when scores of such fraudulent degrees were revealed."
