Is this normal? Does anybody know about this school - Henley - They are fully accredited, but I want to make sure that there will be support across countries during the 4 year degree....... see below.

As you know, I applied about 2 months ago (in England, I am in the states). About a month ago, I e-mailed for a status and was told I was approved by the Director and it was going to the next stage of screening. Week before last, I e-mailed again, and have been told I am in final consideration.

Here is the problem. Since I have e-mailed twice (once a month), I am hesitant to e-mail again. I don't want to be a pest, they have already apologized, saying it normally does not take this long, but there is a huge number of applicants for the Fall.

I am 6 weeks out from the program starting, and from the literature have seen that there is pre-work for the first required meeting in September. I need to get a flight, a passport (which I have already begun to work).... in six weeks.

I have only been in touch via e-mail with the admin (very nice and helpful, but I have not spoken directly to the Dean). She has given me the name of the Professor who has final say and my application is in review with.

What would you do at this point? I am worried if I wait much longer, I may not get a flight or the pre-work done?

Any help from the board is appreciated........ if I am being a pest, I am sure this group will tell me so.

I see no reason to refrain from contacting them. I would expect to contact them as needed after enrolling and beginning study. Better to find out now if they are a bit touchy. Surely they would expect to be prodded when they are running slow. I say speak your mind and explain your concerns. If they don't like it look for a more accommodating place.

Unfortunately, this is where it comes down to personalities, does this proffessor like contact with students in the evaluation stage or not.

I was in a similar situation last year, and continued to follow up (on a bi-weekly basis) as I was getting to the cut off point for sign ups in another program (I applied to three at once). In my case the dean had the final say and he had been out on family leave.

The short version, I did not get in to that program, but I did get into another program, which in 20/20 hindsight says was the better program (2nd tier vs 4th tier, more general Industrial Engineering vs Engineering Mnagement).

    Some points to consider:

    1) the UK system is less tied to the calender than the US.
    2) do you have any information on this professor to know how student freindly he is.

I can't give you an answer, and if I did and it was wrong that could be upsetting too. Best I can do is give you my best wishes.

Very good points. I do have his bio, and he was born in Spain, moved to Germany, and now teaches in England. He has a very impressive resume, and that is probably why he heads up the division.

I am glad to hear that the UK is tied less to a calendar, I did not realize this. I will give it another week to see what happens.

This will be my first trip out of the country (other than on vacation), and that is one major reason that I chose this program. I know that there is a huge amount of research about US firms and business, and it seems that other than the token international busines class, I have had no expose to this.

I am so anxious that I am ready to explode, but know it is close, and appreciate both comments above. I will see what else I can find out, and see what to do.

How about calling the school and talk with somebody in the registrar office/administrator or even the department itself... just my thoughts !
