Figures. I like the term technikon. The Kadastrophe (who rather looks like S.J. Perelman, except for the sense of humour) reminds me of the joke about the fellow who fell down a well. Upon hearing the distant thud, his anxious wife asks, "Did you break anything?" He replies, with slight hesitation, "No. I just got here."

I just named 4 of them

    1)South African Institute of Technology

2)South African University of Professional Education

3)South African University of Applied Sciences

4)South African University of Applied Technology.

Took a few minutes but then I am not a committee and I am not concerned with political correctness, South African style.

While I was at it I renamed 4 Zimbabwe schools

    1)Robert Mugabe Institute of Technology

2)Robert Mugabe University of Professional Education

3)Robert Mugabe University of Applied Sciences

4)Robert Mugabe University of Applied Technology.

    Piece of cake.

Not unlike when Britain "universitized" its polytechnics.

I wonder if the former technikons will stop issuing BTech, MTech, and DTech degrees?
