Southwest Texas State University will be no more

    As of Sept. 1, 2003 the new name will be Texas State University - San Marcos. A lot of alumni and faculty are unhappy with the name change, but I feel that it's a good move. I think that Texas State will immediately seem more recognizable to people, even if they don't know why.

    Maybe it is because that was the name of the university in the movie "Necessary Roughness." Wonder what the odds are that they would change the mascot to the armadillos???

    The old name was recognizable because LBJ went there.
