The article mentions increased use of screening procedures. I think this is the appropriate step and is something that all employers should do. Many HR groups are notorious about not checking. Up front screening will help prevent those future time bombs (e.g. Laura Callahan). John
The degree mill market would shrivel up (but not disappear) if hiring managers would do two things. First, screen out those with degrees from bogus schools. Second, verify (with the school) degrees claimed from legitimate schools. I truly believe--and my research seems to indicate--that much of this is based on hiring managers not knowing and not caring. Until it's thrust into their faces, of course.
