    Howdy, all!

At long last, I will be putting my MTh dissertation in the mail tomorrow.

As many of you know, I will be receiving my degree from the University of Wales.

Just today, I received my master's robe and hood from the Univeristy of Wales' official robe maker in London. Ede and Ravenscroft has been making academic robes since 1689. At that time, Harvard was the only New World post-secondary institution in existence, with William and Mary yet to be founded four years later.

After four years and eight months of enrollment in a "innovative" DL degree program, I'm pleased to be able to celebrate joining a venerable cast of Spurgeon's alumni that stretches back 147 years, and to be able to don a robe and hood tailored by a company that has been providing such attire to graduates for 314 years.

    Hey, Gang!

Thanks for your encouraging words. The dissertation is now in the mail. Honestly, it was a very odd feeling sending it off--something like shock. I guess it's hard to believe that it's finally done after 18+ months of research, writing, and refining.

As far as what comes next: I hope to proceed on into doctoral work as soon as possible. Though I've been cleared to enter the DTh at Stellenbosch, some of the realities associated with the church at which I am serving and the role I've assumed within my denomination may make it difficult for me to undertake that program. I also have been in dialogue with another leading South African theology faculty. It Stellenbosch doesn't work, I likely will enroll in the PhD at this other school.

    Cory,

Congratulations on your accomplishment. Maybe you'll post a picture wearing that robe?
