"JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - South Africans mourned the passing of anti-apartheid hero Walter Sisulu, who died peacefully on Monday at the age of 90 in the arms of his wife. Sisulu, a veteran of the struggle against white minority rule in South Africa and long-time friend and mentor to Nelson Mandela, had suffered from Parkinson's disease." http://reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=worldNews&storyID=2686636 I think he earned his BA while he was in prison. He was also a mentor to Nelson Mandela. "In his autobiography, he has a chapter on how he [Mandela]became politicized and says he owes his political education to many people, but singles you out. Were you consciously a tutor? It so happened that that introduction led to a very warm friendship from the beginning. I naturally would want a person like that to be in the limelight, to what was happening. Especially, because we were looking for people who could finally influence the situation in the country." http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/mandela/interviews/sisulu.html
...et lux perpetua... "Our little systems have their day; They have their day and cease to be. They are but broken lights of Thee, and Thou, o Lord, art more than they." --Tennyson
May his soul rest in peace. The life of one great man may have passed, but the struggles against the oppressors shall never die. May God provide comfort to his families.
