I didn't bother voting, because it doesn't matter. France, Germany, Russia, the anti-American protesters, and anyone else with a stake in seeing Saddam staying in power will rationalize everything away. "The United States planted it" is my current favorite to lead the flood of excuses to soon follow.

Although I agree that the planting excuse is more likely to be used, among my favorites are the following:

“These aren’t my chemicals, I was just holding them for a friend.”

    and

“These aren’t even my plants, I’m borrowing them from someone and this stuff must’ve been inside.”

    :D

The timing is right to drop Hans Blix from a B-52 onto one of the presidential palaces in Bagdad.

I suppose Blix is still too enamored with the "international community" to really be objective. I am far less trusting of the Security Council than I was when this whole thing began.

Have you heard what Russia, a permament Security Council member, has been up to? It appears that, over at least the past year or so, the Russians have been selling, to the Iraqis, equipment that is capable of jamming GPS signals. This equipment may be capable of hindering navigation of coalition forces, as well as degrading the effectiveness of GPS-guided munitions. Furthermore, Russian technicians may be, on this very day, in Iraq maintianing this equipment and training Iraqis in its use.

So, what about this "community?" What is it that places us on the wrong side? Here we have the Russians violating security council resolutions, while claiming that we have no respect for the UN. While that's bad enough, the greatest autrocity is that their actions are likely endangering innocent Iraqi civilians. Those GPS-guided munitons can go dangerously astray if they don't get the signal from the satellite.
