    An American Hater in Ottawa

    http://www.canoe.ca/TorontoNews/ts.ts-02-27-0005.html

A Toronto area Liberal Member of Parliament, Carolyn Parrish, expressed her anti-American sentiments on camera. She blurted out "Damn Americans, I hate those Bastards" as she strolled away from the cameras.
Now I ask you....is this any way for a senior member in the House of Commons to respond to questions on Iraq?
I assume most of you would like to see her strapped to the first cruise missile the US launches into Iraq.

Interestingly enough, the story was published by a company in which "....Quebecor Media holds approximatly 97.7% of all the voting rights attached to all the shares...and approximatly [sic] 82.5% of the equity..." Quebecor Incorporated has Brian Mulroney on its Board of Directors, so by extention, every last word that any of its divisions publishes must be truthful and published without any hint of bias or favouritism whatsoever.

Believing anything that Quebecor publishes verbatim is akin to believing every last word that the current occupant of 24 Sussex Drive has to say.

Perhaps Brian should reprise his a*s kissing role with Ronnie Raygun and sing "When Irish Eyes are Smiling" again, because his "abilities" as a media person are open to much debate. Canoe.ca and the rest of the Quebecor media "family" bite just about as much as Brian does...

    Carrie Apologized!!!

Carrie apologized, so what more could one ask for?

Oops, but so did Trent Lott. I guess a resignation would be in order.

Ah yes, the left spots contamination...a.k.a. killing the messenger.

When I was a kid, conspiracy theories designed to distract from facts were a right-wing hobby. Now they're a left-wing hobby, so that F. Roosevelt is replaced by Reagan as the object of hatred, the Zionists have replaced the Bolshies, and the US has replaced the USSR. The fanatics still scream: but OUR conspiracy theory is true and only conspirators or their "dupes" deny it. And we all know that THEY control the media, etc., etc...

A Liberal Party MP from Toronto, nothing surprises me. Out here, we don't think think that they are all that neat.

Not really. People down here in the U.S. are too busy insulting the French to worry about her.

I guess that everyone has said the kind of thing that she said about somebody or something. But if we are politicians, we are careful not to utter our hyperbolic bullshit anywhere near microphones.

Of all the comments above, Bill's is the funniest, me thinks.

The trouble is, I often agree with the sentiment "Americans...I hate those bastards!" We sometimes (and more) deserve it. But in the shadow of 9/11 and the war on terror?--how impolitic!

The CBC surveys American responses to this minor squabble here:

    Annexation?

I don't think the U.S. can afford to have another Cuba to their north.

This post was inspired by my 11 year old daughter.

I said something about being old and stupid like your dad. She replied "Dad, you're not old"

Fox news reported that Carolyn Parrish, on a Canadian (radio? tv?) show, has explained that she opened her mouth, firmly inserted foot...but could only accept that Damn Americans, I hate those Bastards" could come out of her mouth again since that's still her opinion!~

I'm glad she's owned up to her bias instead of deviously attempting to purge the obvious from her record as other politicians might.
