There may yet be hope for the Cosmetic Theology Institute.

This leaves the door wide open.
Imagine this in the months to come:

    Barberschool.edu
Accredited school of beauty and hair styling.
Earn your BSc, MSc or PhD in hair cutting.

I would have a difficult time addressing the guy who styles my hair as "Doctor".

The Chronicle carries the story here: Educause Will Open '.edu' Domain to a Wide Range of Specialized Institutions

A quote: "Institutions with national accreditation often provide training in specialized fields such as health, education, and technology. Currently, nationally-accredited colleges must use suffixes such as ".com" or ".org" in their Internet addresses, prompting officials to complain that students question whether the institutions are legitimate."

Some of the statements made to the media have been over the top, even irresponsible. Granting ".edu" status to these schools does NOT "water down" the .edu domain, especially when it is given to accredited, degree-granting schools. But....perhaps they could offer a different, yet distinct, domain suffix to the accredited, non-degree-granting schools (like beauty schools) that seem to be creating so much consternation.

    How about ".trn" (for "training)?
