I am considering taking a hypnotherapy course at either Bennett/Stellar University (of Seattle, San Diego, and Sedona AZ) or Southwest Institute of Healing Arts in Tempe, AZ. I would appreciate comments from anyone having experience with these schools. Thank you.
I know nothing of these schools, however, I would not take any type of hypnotherapy course through DL. This subtle aspect of psychotherapy practice requires close supervision in order to be learned effectively. Jack
Can hypnotherapy be taught very quickly, even residentially? The person who posted asked me privately for advice, and, since these are fields I know little about, I suggested he post here. I agree with Jack that these topics are not suited to distance learning (apart from the theoretical aspects) -- but I think a really important issue is whether or not these topics can be meaningfully conveyed at all, even residentially, in a very short period, as it appears Bennett/Stellar does, in a 15-day "crash course."
If I may make a distinction... With a very good teacher, one might learn the rudiments of hypnosis over the course of a long weekend. This, however, is a far cry from learning hypnotherapy. To state it plainly, there's a lot more to hypnotherapy than simple hypnosis and you can't teach psychotherapy in a 15 day crash course. Jack
