Today's San Francisco paper reports that Peter Sperling, chairman of the company that owns the University of Phoenix, has purchased the highest priced home in San Francisco history, a Pacific Heights mansion, adjoining those of Gordon Getty and Larry Ellison, for 38 mil.

Just as with A. J. Liebling's observation that "Freedom of the press is reserved for those that own one," perhaps the true value of distance education is reserved for those that own the schools.

    John,

Indeed you are very insightful, even if your post was only meant to be humor.

Think of the children that could have been fed for 38 million. :)

Think of the jobs that this project created which allowed workers to shelter and feed their own children. Think of the property taxes that will be generated (roughly $380,000 per year) that can be used for social programs.

Think of how this will affect the real estate market in that area, which will have an even greater impact on property taxes.
