What is your favorite distance learning urban legend?

    Here is one:

A guy gets a Ph.D. from Trinity College/University and lands a faculty position at the University of Michigan. His appointment is based on achieving a score of 150 points under UM's admission system. Five years later it is discovered that his doctorate is not RA, therefore, he only has 130 points and will lose his position.

"Not to worry," he says, "My ethnic background qualifies me for an additional 20 points. UM allows student admission under this policy, why not faculty?" After brief deliberation UM personnel agree with the guy, and he keeps his position.

Legend: DL degree mill doctorates really do work for some. ;)
