The good news is that the Federal Trade Commission seems poised to do something about the sale of fake international drivers licenses. Here's today's press release. <http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2003/01/idpfinal.htm>http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2003/01/idpfinal.htm The bad news is that the huge Romanian fake degree operation, which also has a very large fake drivers license operation, is not of the six targeted ones.
Even "legitimate" international driver's licenses (like those issued by AAA) are worthless on their face. All they serve to do is translate the person's regular driver's license information. IOW, if someone gives me a Brazilian driver's license, the international license will translate the Portuguese into English. If all they have is an international license, they have no license in the eyes of the law. Bruce
