After the rather heated thread on the academic histories of President Bush and former-VP Al Gore, I'm impressed with the credentials of the Governor-elect and Lieutenant Governor-elect of Massachusetts.

Governor-elect Mitt Romney earned a B.A. with highest honors from Brigham Young University, and then attended Harvard Business School and Harvard Law School simultaneously. He was awarded his M.B.A. (Baker Scholar) and J.D. (cum laude) from Harvard in 1975.

Lieutenant Governor-elect Kerry Healey earned an A.B. in Government from Harvard in 1982, and then earned a Ph.D. in Political Science and Law from Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland.

When these two say they are serious about education, I believe them!

And let's not forget Newt Gingrich (Ph.D., Tulane University, 1971).

If I'm remembering the campaign ads correctly, she also taught at UMass for a time. I believe that she is quite knowledgable in the field of criminal justice/corrections. In this specific matter she became a real benefit to Romney who chose her as his running mate over the candidate picked by the Republican Party. What was his name again?

Besides, Mitt Romney went to my high school.

Yep, she taught at my alma mater, UMass-Lowell. I never had her for any courses, as I went to the off-campus program in Boston.

    Jim Rappaport.
