Meeting a Walden student made my day!

A counselor at the jail where I work was walking around with a big binder that had the words "dissertation" printed on top. When I asked her about school, she smiled and said she was working on a PhD with Walden.

"Distance Learning, huh?" I said, smiling back.

"Yes," she said. "It's a great school. Distance Learning is a good experience and I'm more than pleased."

She commenced to tell me about her travels to various seminars and said the work was extremely rigorous but pleasing.

"There's a lot of back and forth," she said. "I write something and they send it back. I do a rewrite or add something and they send it back. They won't accept anything but my best and then some."

I asked if she'd heard of DegreeInfo, to which she said no.

Smiling, I said, "We've got to talk."

Just wanted to share this. Meeting another DL person sort of broke up the loneliness I was feeling in my DL pursuit. Good to know there's at least one other person I can talk to about DL.

Don't know what I'll do without Degreeinfo.

Good heavens. I'm gone for 8 days, and this!?*

Does this mean Roscoe is leaving (sad) or DegreeInfo is leaving (very sad) . . . or should (I hope) the "I'll" have been an "I'd"?

John, the site has been boring for the past week or so, even the departure of Peter and others, we could'nt even get a rise out of Lawrie Miller or Gavin Kennedy.

Need to get things going again, and the suggestion Roscoe is leaving also..well what about it Roscoe, are you going to join the other two?..doubt it, stick around we are just warming up again, J.B's back. My guess is those temporary absences of the others only occured when John was on leave, maybe they all took a short break together.

    Just a typo

Nope. I ain't going nowhere. I'm addicted to this group. John (the Bear) you were right about the "I'd". That's what I meant. It's amazing how writing turns out when you're tired.

And John Roberts, Thanks for the encouragement. You all make us newbies feel right at home.

P.S. I wanted to send out a search party for the Bear :)

Some of the funniest stuff yet!

    Thanks Shabs,

That list by Russell would make even DAvid Letterman proud. I busted up laughing.

I haven't seen that much good humor in a long time.

I say she was just showing off. The binder really contained all of her old supermarket lists.

If it's any help, Roscoe, I'll be happy to meet you for coffee next time I'm in Baltimore. Then you'll be able to say that you've met a Union graduate. I'll even bring my completed, hard-bound dissertation. Printed on 24-pound paper* so its 328 pages would look even thicker. :D

    Levicoff,

Let me know when you're in the area. Coffee is on me. Seriously.

I may be pushing this, but I would love to have a signed copy of Name It and Frame It. Even a used copy will do.
