In spite of what the article says, I predict Capella will either merge or go public within two years. How else will the venture capitalists recoup their investments?
The article said Capella projects profitability in 2003. That almost certainly means that revenues will exceed operating costs. It might even include servicing debt. In time, investors could see a return. Selling it off might seem a tempting, short-term solution, but I wonder if the time would be right in this economic climate. Still, the notion that a brick-and-mortar school could buy up Capella and leverage their (Capella's) experience and market penetration--not to mention their ability to deliver instruction and accredited degree programs--is tasty. I wonder who....

Just in case there are people who fail to adjust this for sarcasm, let me say that I don't know Mr. Walsh, nor have I had any contact with Greenwich University in the 10 or so years since Bear ran it.
