I just received my CBM certification from Association of Professionals in Business Management yesterday. Because of my education and work experience, I was qualified under the Grandfather clause. All I did was filling out the applications and paying the fees of $399.

What's next??? Have you even heard of CBM? What's the prospect of it?

Any input will be highly appreciated.

  3. You didn't provide a URL -- through Google I found http://www.cbmexam.com/ which states "The Certified Business Manager (CBM) credential is sponsored by the Association of Professionals in Business Management (APBM)." On the front page, it's all about taking exams to get this credential. However, the FAQs do mention a Grandfather Clause -- which "will expire September 1, 2002 or upon reaching approximately 3,000 Grandfathered CBMs, whichever comes first."

APBM was founded by S. Rao Vallabhaneni. I've found a few articles by him with this note: "Professor S. Rao Vallabhaneni (www.cbmexam.com) is an educator, author, publisher, and practitioner in the business field with more than 25 years of management experience in manufacturing, finance, auditing, accounting, and information technology. Most recently he taught at National-Louis University, Chicago, in the College of Management and Business."

Seems as if Vallabhaneni founded APBM and invented the CBM credential. Hard to tell whether the CBM credential will mean anything to anyone outside APBM.

But if all you did was fill out an application and pay a fee -- that doesn't speak very well for it.
