Change in Ph.D. Residency Requirement? I do hope the new president doesn't decrease the Ph.D. residency requirement from 30 days to 21 days. That extra week could mean the difference between what is now a solid, substantive, legitimate and credible distance learning Ph.D., and one which is basically degree millish. <smile>
Re: Change in Ph.D. Residency Requirement? Now, now, Russell . . . This incredible lack of research is just what I would have expected from someone who becomes offended by off-color language. You see, Union's minimum residency requirement is 35 days, not 30 days (10 days for colloquium, 15 days for seminars, and 10 days for peer days).
Re: Re: Change in Ph.D. Residency Requirement? Wow, that was quick Steve. I posted this just for you, but I was amazed at the quick response. However, I knew you would respond. <grin> Forgive my loss of memory regarding the exact number of days. The difference between 30-35 days, which in a given academic day of 8 hours would total 40 hours of "on-campus" studies, could be the one criterion between legitimacy and a mill. <BIG grin>
