Which is the correct way to list your degrees: A) John Q. Doe, Ph.D, MA, BS, AA -- or -- B) John Q. Doe, AA, BS, MA, Ph.D I believe it is answer “A.” Please: No comments about listing the fluffy little AA degree. It is a good filler, sort of like adding corn flakes to your meat loaf to make it seem like you have more than what is really there. < wink wink >
In the United States, yes. In some other countries (such as the U.K.), it is more common to see all degrees listed, along with the institutions from which they were granted (for example, "B.A. (Oxon), M.A. (Cantab)"). If one is determined to list all of their degrees, however, the proper method would be me again's first option - from lowest to highest.
You're almost correct, and I'm delighted to show once again that, while I am brilliant, I am not perfect. Of course, I mean his second option. As in . . . Steve Levicoff B.A. (Edison), M.A. (Norwich), Ph.D. (Union) On the other hand . . . I think that it's entirely optional. I just had a look at one of Dennis H's* old letterheads, and he listed "JD MBA MS MA MS BA" under his name - and that is me again's first option. (Since then, of course, he could add another half-dozen degrees.) On my actual letterhead, incidentally, I include only the Ph.D. And have a macro key on my computer to take the title out, which I do on almost all of my correspondence. ____________________________ * If y'all don't know who Dennis is, you're obviously not a long-timer from the old AED days. Those who do know Dennis are giving away our age. By the way, I spoke with Dennis last night, and am pleased to report that he's alive and well.
