  1. OK, so they're mostly honorary degrees.

Desmond Tutu -- B.A. (Unisa) 1954, B.D. Hon. (London) 1965, M.Th. (London) 1966 -- received his 99th honorary degree (a doctorate in theology) from the University of Pretoria today.

I have yet to find an up-to-date source that tallies honorary degrees, and I'd love to put the current standings in the next edition of Bears' Guide, which goes to the printer in about a month.

Two years ago, there was a neck and neck race between Father Hesburgh, late of Notre Dame, and the King of Thailand, each without about 150. Runners up were Bob Hope, Bill Cosby, and Bishop Tutu, all, from various accounts, approaching 100.

I would guess that if Bob Hope is still more-or-less sentient when he reaches age 100 soon, he may well be showered with them.
