Hatfill wrote a novel on using anthrax to attack congress. The guy worked in biological warfare, which, incidentally, doesn't exist. In all probability, the subject was a natural to him as he was well acquainted with the subject. Whenever anything creepy happens, I would put Steven King on my suspect list. Whatever happened to collecting evidence, preparing a case and presenting it to court. Leaking an investigation that apparently lacks any direct evidence is certainly suspect. The usual outcome of such cases in Canada is that the suspect sues for malicious prosecution and ends up very wealthy.
This investigation looks like it is being botched. If the FBI did release that novel manuscript to ABC then they're really asking for trouble. I guess that part of the problem is that leaking innuendo and staging "raids" makes for good press. BTW did Steve Hatfill ever get a real Ph.D.? At the Hatfill press conference I thought they referred to him as a Ph.D. but maybe they just said Dr. Hatfill. I guess he has a medical degree from Zimbabwe.
I noted at the bottom of the USA Today article, Clawson referred to Hatfill as "a dedicated physician." Is this an implication that he does hold an MD degree.
