How do you feel about universities and colleges which sell a students name to credit agencies (credit cards and such)? I had this happen to me at a state school, I was preapproved for a visa with the school's logo on it.

Did the state school also agree to make your credit card payment? ;)

Ah yes, the Fighting Illini. Show your University of Illinois pride!! The Visa card depicts the Illini Union and has no annual fee. Of course, if you charge your tuition using a credit card there's a 2% convenience fee. Sheesh!

Schools seem to have found a new source of revenue – your personal information. You can ask to be removed from the university marketing lists, but the last time I was enrolled at a U.S. university (1998-99) it involved a trip to the registrar’s office to fill out a form. What I find interesting is that ten years ago few credit card companies would want a large student population as cardholders due to credit risks. Now they seem to be a prime market – I wonder if this is because of the influx of adult learners?
